ChrisWaltonChristopher C. Walton, principal of Walton Law APC, has been selected to the 2014 Southern California Super Lawyers list. No more than five percent of the lawyers in California are selected by Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Walton concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury and nursing home abuse/neglect. In addition to his advocacy on behalf of elderly and personal injury victims, Walton is actively involved in the San Diego legal community. In 2011 and 2012, Walton was elected by his peers to serve as co-chair of the Elder Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association. He is also active in the North County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, Consumer Attorneys of California and the American Inns of Court, Honorable William B. Enright Chapter.
Walton was also named a Top Attorney by the San Diego Daily Transcript in 2013.

KevinKanthariaFish & Richardson is pleased to announce that Kevin Kantharia has received the 2013 American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Robert C. Watson Award for his paper “The Shrinking and Unpredictable Law of Willful Patent Infringement: Why the Federal Circuit Should Revisit En Banc the Issues in Bard Peripheral Vascular.”
This annual competition is designed to encourage interest in intellectual property issues and give law students further experience with the concepts and realities of a career in intellectual property law. Students are encouraged to submit articles on a subject related to the protection of intellectual property and judges consider the merit of the article as a contribution to the knowledge of intellectual property and the extent to which it displays original and creative thought.
Kantharia wrote the article during his third year in law school at the University of San Diego Law School, where he earned his law degree. He joined Fish after graduation and was admitted to the California bar in December 2013. Kantharia was previously a participant in Fish’s Diversity Fellowship program in 2011 and worked as a summer associate for the firm while attending law school.

GayleBlattGayle M. Blatt, a partner with San Diego-based CaseyGerry and head of its pharmaceutical and medical device practice group, has been appointed by U.S. District Judge Anthony Battaglia to serve as co-liaison counsel for the growing number of incretin mimetic products liability cases in multidistrict litigation (MDL 2452) now pending in the Southern District of California.
As co-liaison counsel in the multidistrict litigation, Blatt will be responsible for facilitating communications between the respective parties in the MDL and the court overseeing the litigation. Currently, there are over 150 cases pending in the MDL involving incretin mimetic drugs used to treat Type 2 diabetes — Byetta, Januvia, Janumet and Victoza — and new cases are being filed at a rate of between 20 and 40 per month.
The incretin-based therapies products liability litigation MDL alleges that use of the drugs can cause pancreatic cancer. In August of this year, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) consolidated all federally filed suits involving the diabetes drugs to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

ParisimaRoshanzamirGomez Iagmin Trial Attorney Parisima Roshanzamir has been named the Regional Captain for San Diego of the Consumer Attorneys of California New Lawyers Division (NLD).
The purpose of NLD is to stimulate the interest and commitment of New Lawyers in the objectives of CAOC, generate new members for CAOC, provide public services focusing on the preservation of the civil justice system, Trial By Jury and other civic-oriented projects, develop statewide professional relationships and assist members of CAOC in the early stages of their careers by ensuring that all CAOC components give appropriate attention to the needs of New Lawyers.
